Your Ceilings Will Thank You

If your house was built in a year that doesn’t start with a “2”, and your lights are original to your home, it might be time to replace them. We all have different taste, and I get that, so this post is directed towards anyone looking for easy ways to update their home. Speaking of updating, sometimes I find that the “up” gets lost in updating. We look around and think about the grand projects staring us in the face- the dark kitchen with the dated countertops are hard to overlook. But small updates can change the look and feel of your home, without breaking the bank.

Look up, you see that builder-grade flush light that’s been in your hallway since 1992? Yes, it works just fine. And maybe it doesn’t bother you, after all, they still sell it in stores. But, changing it out to something you pick out that goes with the rest of your decor and style, can make a surprising impact.

The real game-changer, though, is that giant chandelier that’s been hanging in the foyer to great every guest that’s ever stepped foot in your house. Mine is currently giant and heavy and gold and dated to the fullest extent possible. I cannot wait until our new light arrives. For me, I want our entryway to reflect our style, and a big, fancy, overdone chandelier just does not fit. None of the lights that came with our house have ever been updated (from what I can tell), and swapping them out one by one in each room was the first step of many for us to make our house feel like our home. Because for us, it’s about the little things right now, and the big things will come with time.

Just remember as you update anything, to take your time, keep your long term goals/plans in mind, and always shop around.
